On October 29, 1978, the Jazz Members Big Band played its first performance at Gaspar's at the corner of Belmont and Southport on Chicago's North Side.  Thirty years later, Jeff Lindberg's Chicago Jazz Orchestra celebrates its run as Chicago's oldest professional jazz orchestra in continuos operation by presenting its blockbuster concert, Exquisitely for Ella: A Songbook Tribute to Ella Fitzgerald.
Featuring three of Chicago's greatest singers: "Chicagoan of the Year" Dee Alexander, Frieda Lee and Spider Saloff, this performance include the greatest material from Ella's songbook albums.
Highlighted are works by such composers as George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, Irving Berlin, Duke Ellinghton and Billy Strayhorn.  This popular concert quickly sold out two performances in February 2006, so get your tickets early!
Special pre-concert, 30th Anniversary Benefit Buffet featuring a performance by an  All Stars Band begins at 2:00PM in the Thorne Auditorium lobby.
