MICHAEL YOUNG

Mr. Young has been with Vander Cook College of Music since 2000.
He works as a free-lance bass trombone player and additionally
performs on tenor trombone, tuba, and euphonium. Mr. Young plays
musicals in the major Chicago theaters and performs with local
orchestras and opera companies. He has performed with jazz big
bands such as Tommy Dorsey, Woody Herman, Toshiko Akiyoshi and
Frank Mantooth, and he toured for a number of years with Frank Sinatra’
s orchestra. Mr. Young is a founding member of the Chicago Jazz
Orchestra (formerly the Jazz Members Big Band), which has released
several CDs, the most recent with Charlie Harrison and Clark Terry. He
is currently a member of the Chicago Brass Choir.
