Supporting the CJO
Why support a Chicago Jazz Orchestra performance or educational
event?
• As the city’s premier jazz orchestra, the CJO is the orchestra of choice
for artists of international stature. Thus the CJO has performed with
such artists as Herbie Hancock, Quincy Jones, Ahmad Jamal, Why
McCoy Tyner, Nancy Wilson, Joe Williams, and many, many more.
• The CJO is regularly programmed at the most prestigious performing
arts venues in the Chicago area: Symphony Center; Auditorium
Theatre; Wentz Concert Hall (Naperville); Pick-Staiger Concert Hall
(Evanston); and others. At these venues the CJO regularly performs to
capacity or near-capacity audiences.
• The artists who comprise the Chicago Jazz Orchestra include some
of the finest teachers in the Chicago area, teaching at such educational
institutions as Roosevelt University, Northwestern University, Loyola
University, Northern Illinois University, North Central College, the
Steans Music Institute at Ravinia, among others.
• By supporting the CJO, one of the world-class jazz orchestras still in
existence, you are helping us fulfill our mission of performing for and
educating people of all ages and walks of life about jazz – America’s
only indigenous art form. Support from individuals and corporations
like you is appreciated and respected by many, because you are
furthering the important place jazz holds in our culture.
The Chicago Jazz Orchestra is a 501(c) non profit organization.
